Chenal Adult Day Center opened in the Spring of 2006.  Mother, Lynda and Daughter, Erin opened the center to assist the Elder Population in Little Rock and the surrounding area.  Lynda, a Master's level Speech-Language Pathologist is the program director.  Erin, an accountant, takes care of the business end of running an adult daycare.  She also started nursing school the summer of 2008 and expects of graduate with her RN in the Fall of 2010. 

The program is based on keeping skills and abilities functioning as high as possible in each individual that attends the Center.  Tasks, games and handcrafts not only work on fine-motor control and dexterity but address such skills as attending to task, following directions, categorization and organization.

We relate to the clients practicing validation therapy, which involves listening and reflecting the clients statement and feelings and then attempt to redirect in a positive fashion when necessary.  We have a cat, named "Ivory" and a dog, named "Howie" who are at the Center daily to enhance the home like environment for our residents.

In the Spring of 2008, the Center was able to acquire a home in West Little Rock, off of Chenal Parkway.  This new location enables the Center to offer quiet surroundings to our residents with access to our beautiful backyard gardens in a secure, safe environment.
